Lobelia siphilitica

Great Blue Lobelia

Great Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica) is a perennial wildflower native to moist meadows, streambanks, and woodland edges across eastern and central North America. It typically grows 2 to 3 feet tall, forming upright clumps with sturdy stems and lance-shaped, toothed leaves. The plant produces striking spikes of deep blue, tubular flowers from mid-summer to early fall, attracting bees and butterflies. Great Blue Lobelia thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers consistently moist, rich soils, making it ideal for rain gardens or wetland plantings. It is tolerant of wet conditions but does not perform well in dry soils. This species is valued for its vibrant color and ability to support pollinators in naturalized landscapes.
