Osmunda cinnamomea

Cinnamon Fern (Osmunda cinnamomea) is a striking, deciduous fern native to moist woodlands and wetlands across North America. It typically grows in large, vase-shaped clumps reaching 2 to 5 feet tall, with bright green, arching fronds that emerge in spring. The plant gets its name from the distinctive, cinnamon-colored fertile fronds that appear in the center of the clump. Cinnamon Fern thrives in partial to full shade and prefers consistently moist to wet, acidic soils, making it ideal for rain gardens or shady borders. It does not tolerate drought and should be watered regularly if grown in drier locations. This fern is low-maintenance and adds a lush, natural look to woodland gardens.
