Sedum ternatum

Wild Stonecrop
FamilyCrassulaceae - Stonecrop Family

Wild Stonecrop (Sedum ternatum) is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial native to woodland areas. It thrives in part shade but can tolerate a range of light conditions, maintaining its best form in full or partial sun, while deep shade may cause it to become more open and leggy. Wild Stonecrop prefers moist, well-drained soils but is adaptable and can handle drier conditions once established. It is semi-evergreen and spreads by creeping stems, making it an excellent groundcover for shady gardens or rocky outcrops. This plant needs moderate moisture to grow well and is valued for its resilience and ability to thrive in thin, limey soils, especially in limestone-rich habitats.
