Symphyotrichum oolentangiense

Sky Blue Aster

Sky Blue Aster (Symphyotrichum oolentangiense) is a perennial wildflower native to prairies, open woods, and savannas across central and eastern North America. It typically grows 2 to 3 feet tall, forming upright clumps with slender, branching stems and rough, lance-shaped leaves. In late summer to fall, it produces abundant clusters of daisy-like flowers with sky-blue to lavender petals and yellow centers, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Sky Blue Aster thrives in full sun to light shade and prefers well-drained soils, tolerating dry to medium moisture conditions once established. It is drought-tolerant and well-suited for native plant gardens, prairie restorations, and naturalized landscapes.
