Crested Oval Sedge
Crested Oval Sedge (Carex cristatella) is a clump-forming perennial sedge native to moist soils, often found in wetlands and wet meadows. It grows up to 3 feet tall and is distinguished by its globoid spikelets. This sedge spreads by short rhizomes and does most of its growing during the cool seasons of spring and fall. Crested Oval Sedge thrives in full sun, partial sun, or shade, and prefers wet to medium soils. It is hardy in USDA zones 3-7 and provides food for various insects, though it is grazed sparingly by mammals.
